PURPOSE: To obtain a filter for tobacco degradable with microorganisms generally existing in the natural world and by ultraviolet rays in the sunshine without change of conventional taste of tobacco.

CONSTITUTION: The role of a filter for tobacco is to reduce harmful substances such as nicotine or tar evolving during combustion of leaves of tobacco. By using a naturally degradable plastic such as a biodegradable plastic or photodegradation plastic as fibers of the filter part, a filter for tobacco which has the same filter characteristics as those of a conventional filter for tobacco and is degradable in the natural world without changing a conventional taste of tobacco is obtained.
