Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrous material that is free from a problem in processing and keeps good abrasion resistance for a long period, and a manufacturing method of the ferrous material.SOLUTION: A ferrous material includes a ferrous substrate containing 2 mass% or less of manganese and a first layer that is formed on surface of the ferrous substrate and has a higher content of manganese than that in the ferrous substrate. The ferrous substrate containing 2 mass% or less of manganese is housed in a heating furnace together with a treatment agent, the treatment agent having 20 mass% or more and 99 mass% or less of manganese, 0 mass% or more and 80 mass% or less of alumina, and 0.5 mass% or more and 3 mass% or less of ammonium halide relative to 100 mass% of the total amount of the treatment agent. The ferrous substrate and the treatment agent are heated for a predetermined time and annealed to obtain the ferrous material.
