Abstract:
Provided is an electromagnetic brake device for braking a hoist for elevator, which is structured to be compact and to exhibit excellent low noise property (especially lessening releasing operation sound). An electromagnetic brake (26) according to the invention includes a movable element (5) provided with a brake shoe (8) for braking an object to be braked (15) while abutting on the object to be braked (15) mounted on a hoist (10) for lifting and lowering a car (9), and a main body (3) provided with a braking spring (2) for applying a braking force by urging the movable element (5) on the object to be braked (15) and an electromagnetic coil (1) for attracting the movable element (5) against the spring force of the braking spring (2). The device includes a metal urging mechanism (4) for urging the movable element (5) in accordance with a displacement of the movable element (5) from the main body (3) to the object to be braked (15) so as to increase a force acting in the direction opposite a displacement direction of the movable element (5) in proportion to displacement from the main body (3) to the object to be braked (15).
