To provide an electrostatic separation apparatus which enhances the efficiency in electrostatic separation for electrically separating a component of a solid; and an electrostatic separation method.
The electrostatic separation apparatus is equipped with an electrostatic separator (2) arranged at the downstream side of a transport pipe (3) allowing a gas for transporting a solid to pass through. The inner peripheral surface of the transport pipe (3) is formed as a metal surface. While being transported through the transport pipe (3), the solid contacts with the metal surface and is electrically separated into a first electrifiable solid component having a first electrostatic property (+ or -) and a second electrifiable solid component having a second electrostatic property (- or +) in the transport pipe (3). The first and second electrifiable solid components are introduced into the electrostatic separator (2) and are separated from each other by the separator. Thus, electrostatic charge is performed with a high efficiency in the transport pipe having a low solid/gas ratio, causing the electrostatic separator to perform electrostatic separation with a high efficiency. Coal ash from which carbon is removed is reused as a concrete material.
