Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an electrorheological fluid having improved properties and used for clutches, valves, dampers, etc., by selecting an electrorheological fluid containing a liquid continuous phase and a solid phase dispersed in the continuous phase, wherein the solid phase contains a specified polyaniline.
CONSTITUTION: This fluid is the one containing a liquid continuous phase and at least one solid phase dispersed in the liquid phase and functioning electrorheologically when it is in a substantially anhydrous state, wherein the solid phase contains a polyaniline treated with a base desirably ammonia water or an aqueous alkali solution.
