To provide an electrolyte capable of improving a high temperature property, and a battery using the same.

A cathode 21 and an anode 22 are laminated through a separator 23. The separator 23 is impregnated with electrolyte liquid. Chalcone (1, 3-diphenyl-2-propylene-1-on) or its halide is contained in the electrolyte. Since chalcone or its halide forms a conjugate multiple bond of phenyl group, vinyl group, and carbonyl group, an addition reaction property vinyl group is low compared with an isolated double bond, and a film is formed locally at a part in over charged state by additional polymerization reaction. By the above, side reactions like decomposition of the electrolyte can be restrained while restraining increase of internal resistance.
