Abstract:
To provide a dust processing method that removes mercury from the dust containing an active charcoal and radioactive substance adsorbing the mercury, and can reduce volume of the mercury.SOLUTION: A dust processing method, which melts a radioactive substance-containing object in a melting furnace in the presence of chlorine, performs volume reduction processing of dust recovered by bringing exhaust gas including a volatilized radioactive substance into contact with an assistant and active charcoal adsorption material with a dust recovery device, and removes the radioactive substance included in the dust, includes: an active charcoal separation step of separating an active charcoal included in the dust; a solid-liquid separation step of dissolving the dust in water, and recovering a remaining solid object; and a radioactive substance adsorption step of adsorbing and removing the radioactive substance from an aqueous solution having the dust dissolved in the water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
