To provide a drum brake which is reduced in size compared with a conventional drum brake.
Penetration holes 38a, 40a, 42a and 44a penetratively formed at intermediate parts of brake shoes 26, 28, 30 and 32 in circumferential directions are fit in a shaft member 68 arranged at a fixed part 66b at the external peripheral side of a case member 66, and thereby the brake shoes 26, 28, 30 and 32 are arranged on the fixed part 66b of the case member 66. By this, a radial magnitude of a backing plate 20 is contracted and the brake drum 10 is reduced in size compared with a drum brake which is arranged in a position in which an intermediate part of a brake shoe conventionally arranged with a shoe hold-down device separates from the fixed part 66b of the case member 66 to the external peripheral side of the backing plate 20.
