Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drill screw capable of being screwed into a mating member composed of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) without damaging it.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a drill screw comprising a head part 2, a shank part 3, a thread 4 formed at an outer peripheral surface of the shaft part 3, and a drill part 5 formed at the extremity end part of the shank part 3. The drill part 5 has blade surfaces 6a, 6b formed by recessing the outer peripheral surface of an extremity end of the shank part 3 in a longitudinal direction, a tip 7 formed at the extremity end of the shank part 3. The tip 7 is made in accordance with the drill screw 1 showing a feature that its central part A is retracted toward the head part and both ends B, C form a sharpened shape. In accordance with this drill screw 1, when this is used against a mating member made of carbon fiber reinforced plastics(CFRP), it can be screwed into material without any peeling-off at the surface layer of the mating member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
