To provide a device for utilizing heat generated in an exothermic process such as the oxidation of CO to utilize an endothermic process and combining two different kinds of catalytic reactions.
The catalyst contains at least one thin and porous catalytic layer 10, a reaction mixture is passed vertically through the catalytic layer while decreasing the pressure and particularly a reproduction of methanol, a partial oxidation and a subsequent CO oxidation are performed while supplying the reaction mixture containing a reaction extract. In the catalytic layer, at least one of a feed passage 11, 16 for the reaction gas is formed in the catalytic layer to perform the exothermic reaction with the produced gas of an endothermic catalytic reaction inside the catalytic layer.
