To provide a cylinder liner which can be improved in the adhesiveness to a cylinder block while a temperature gradient is reduced in the axial direction of the liner.
In the cylinder liner 2 cast in the cylinder block 1, films 4, 5, 6 are coated on an upper part, an intermediate part and a lower part in the axial direction of an outer circumferential surface 3. Film materials of the films 4, 5 coated on the upper part and the intermediate part are different from each other, and film materials of the films 5, 6 coated on the intermediate part and the lower part are different from each other. As an alternative constitution, in the cylinder liner 2 cast in the cylinder block 1, blast-processed surfaces 8, 9 are formed on the upper part and the lower part in the axial direction of the outer circumferential surface 3, and the film 5 is coated on the intermediate part.
