Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block manufacturing method capable of suppressing adhesion of a thermal spray material to regions other than a cylinder bore.SOLUTION: This cylinder block manufacturing method includes a step of forming a block body 10 serving as a precursor of a cylinder block and including a protrusion 13 that is provided on an entire circumference of an opening edge of a cylinder bore 11 near a crankcase 12 and that obliquely extends so that a portion of the protrusion 13 closer to the crankcase 12 is located closer to a central axis of the cylinder bore 11. Furthermore, this manufacturing method comprises: a masking step of inserting a cylindrical shield jig 20 into the block body 10 from the crankcase 12, and masking an inner wall of the crankcase 12; a thermal spray step of injecting a thermal spray material into the cylinder bore 11 of the block body 10 in a state in which the shield jig 20 is provided, and forming a coat on a wall surface of the cylinder bore 11; and a working step of removing the protrusion 13 from the block body 10 on which the coat is formed through the thermal spray step.
