Abstract:

To improve productivity and assembly in a cross groove type constant velocity universal joint, by providing a theft part, in a region, including one side end of a guide groove and on both end sides than a cross section orthogonal to a groove bottom line, in at least one side of outer and inner wheels.

In an outer wheel 1, a theft part 1c is provided in region, including one side end 1a1 of a guide groove 1a and both end sides than a cross section S orthogonal to a groove bottom line L (a hatched region). The depth H of the theft part 1c is nearly the same as the groove bottom level of the guide groove 1a, or is deeper than the level. Both end side regions, wherein the theft part 1c of the guide groove 1a is provided, are not contacted with a ball, and have no anxiety for causing the deterioration of the function or durability of a joint, by providing the theft part 1c in these regions. The accuracy ensuring in the guide groove 1a can be sufficient to be made only in the central side region except both end side regions, to reduce an accuracy ensuring region; also to eliminate inconvenience wherein both the end side regions of the guide groove 1a interfers with a ball to hinder smooth assembling.
