Abstract:
A method performed via a client-side application of a content management system on a first client device, the method comprising:displaying a content item control interface of the client-side application, the content item control interface being displayed in association with a local version of a content item that is displayed in a third-party application installed on the first client device associated with a first user, wherein the local version of the content item is associated with a cloud version of the content item stored on the content management system, wherein the first user is one of a plurality of users having access rights to edit the content item, wherein the plurality of users are associated with respective client devices having respective local versions of the content item stored thereon and synchronised with the cloud version;determining that the first user has claimed an editing permission to the content item, wherein the editing permission can only be claimed by one user of the plurality of users at a time, whereby the plurality of users other than the first user that have the access rights to edit the content item are temporarily unable to edit the content item; detecting one or more modifications to the local version of the content item made on the third-party-application; andsynchronising the one or more modifications with the cloud version of the content item, wherein the one or more modifications are automatically synchronised to the respective local versions of the content item on other client devices associated with the plurality of users having the access rights without the editing permission.
