Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod for an internal combustion engine that enables stable extension/contraction in the length direction and stable and appropriate setting of a compression ratio of the internal combustion engine without using a seal structure for preventing oil leak.SOLUTION: A connecting rod 1 for an internal combustion engine that connects a piston 3 and a crank shaft 2 with each other and can extend/contract in the length direction includes: a large end side rod 4 having one end portion connected to the crank shaft 2 and the other end portion side that includes a cylinder portion 21 opened on the piston 3 side; a small end side rod 5 having one end portion connected to the piston 3 and the other end portion side that includes a piston portion 22 inserted to the cylinder portion 21 and slidable in the length direction of the cylinder portion 21; and a hydraulic container 23 that is disposed in the cylinder portion 21 while nipped between a bottom surface 21a of the cylinder portion and a tip surface 22a of the piston portion 22 and is configured to enable extension/contraction in the length direction of the cylinder portion 21 along with supply and discharge of oil.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
