Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound type hydraulic actuator suited for intake/ exhaust valve open/close timing control of an internal combustion engine having sufficient drive force, good responsiveness and a wide control range.
SOLUTION: An actuator comprises a rotary unit 19 held capable of rotating in a closed vessel 18 to have gate valves 20a, 20b in an external diameter and a helical spline 19a in an internal diameter, first/second pressure chamber 22a, 22b, 23a, 23b divided by the gate valve 20a, 20b of the rotary unit 19, output shaft 24 supported capable of rotating to the closed vessel 18 to have a helical spline of reverse twist to the rotary unit 19 in an external diameter, gear piston 26 meshing an external diameter with the helical spline and an internal diameter with the helical spline, and a third/fourth pressure chamber divided by the gear piston 26. The output shaft 24 is driven by the gate valve 20a, 20b and the gear piston 26.
