Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent separation of the adhesion of a CFRP flat plate due to the concentration of shearing stresses by enhancing the strength of adhesion at the end of the CFRP flat plate.
SOLUTION: A CFRP flat plate 2 is longitudinally bonded to the surface of a rectangular pipe 1. A taper face 2a is machined at the end of the CFRP flat plate 2. A holding plate 4 having a taper face 4a which is inverse to the taper face 2a is bonded from the end of the rectangular pipe 1 to the taper face 2a of the CFRP flat plate 2. A scarf joint 5 is formed by the end of the CFRP flat plate 2 and the holding plate 4.
