To provide a cam shaft capable of circumferentially positioning a cam lobe with respect to a shaft body only by turning the cam lobe by a predetermined angle, and reducing the number of manufacturing steps by fixing the cam lobe to the shaft body.
A biting part 11 is formed on an outer circumferential surface of a shaft body 10 in a cam shaft, and a relief recess 24 is formed in an inner circumferential surface of a fitting hole 23 of a cam lobe 20. When the cam lobe 20 is turned while the biting part 11 is located in the relief recess 24, the biting part 11 is bitten in the inner circumferential surface of the cam lobe 20, and the cam lobe 20 is fixed to the shaft body 10. Only by turning the cam lobe 20 by the predetermined angle, the cam lobe 20 is positioned in the circumferential direction with respect to the shaft body 10, and at the same time, the cam lobe 20 is fixed to the shaft body 10. Compared with a system for separately performing the positioning step and the fixing step, the number of the steps is small.
