PURPOSE: To attain magnetic recording or reading by decreasing lateral directional size of a camera further without shading photographing light.

CONSTITUTION: A feed means for supplying a film 22, magnetic head 10 for recording or reading information in or from a magnetic recording region provided on the film at supply time thereof, pad 11 made switchable to an advancing position (a) advanced into a photographic optical path and to a refuge position (b) taking refuge from the photographic optical path to press the magnetic recording region of the film to the magnetic head 10 in the advancing position and a drive control means for holding the pad 11 at the refuge position at least during the time of opening a shutter and also driving the pad 11 to the advancing position prior to action of the magnetic head 10 are provided.
