Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a butterfly valve which can decrease consumption of a purge gas, prevent intrusion of foreign matter into a bearing device to a satisfactory degree, and can prolong the lifetime of the sliding part in bearing device.
SOLUTION: A bearing device 3 to bear a valve stem 2 is composed of a ring-shaped bearing member 10 and a thrust bearing member 12, and the valve element 11 is welded to one end of the thrust bearing member 12 over the whole; circumference so that a single piece construction is accomplished, while a sliding part B is formed between the other part of the thrust bearing member 12 and the bearing member 10, and a purge gas flow-in hole 16 is formed in a boss part 5. The bearing member 10 is furnished with an internal circumferential groove 19, an external circumferential groove 18 in communication with the purge gas flow-in hole 16, and a communication hole 20 leading to the two grooves 18 and 19, and the thrust bearing member 12 is furnished with a communication hole 21 leading to the inside and outside circumferential surfaces, and a purge gas jetting hole 23 is formed which is open to the inside of a valve box flow passage 22 from the gap 26 between the boss part 5 and bearing device 3.
