To provide a bush cutter capable of instantaneously stopping the rotation of an automatic clutch drum and a driving shaft of a cutting edge when the number of revolutions is reduced without necessity for operating a brake lever with a hand when the driving shaft of the cutting edge is stopped, improving the operating efficiency without requiring the formation of a through- hole for a wire or a rod and thereby improving dustproof and waterproof properties.
This bush cutter comprises an automatic brake mechanism 25 composed of a brake drum part 35 integrally formed in a clutch case 34, a centrifugal type brake swinging piece 36 mounted on the clutch drum 31 so as to be swingable and capable of swinging with a centrifugal force according to the number of revolutions of the clutch drum 31 and an elastic member for urging the brake swinging piece 36 to the brake drum part 35 and built in the clutch case 34.
