To provide a brake device for an elevator capable of more precisely detecting the state of a brake.

A brake device 10 is provided with a pin 30, a switch 40, and a counter bore 50. The pin 30 acts along with action of a brake action part 20 for braking a brake drum 11 of a hoisting machine 1. The switch 40 includes an actuator 41 which is in contact with the pin 30 and to which the actuation of the pin 30 is transmitted, and detects the state of the brake action part 20 through detection of the actuation of the pin 30. The counter bore 50 is provided at a contact portion between the pin 30 and the actuator 41, and regulates relative movements of the pin 30 and the actuator 41 in a direction perpendicular to the action direction of the pin 30.
