Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a brake device which is simple and low-priced in its constitution in a braking force variable brake device, by which the braking torque at the same rotating speed can be varied, and which is suitable for constant- speed rotation.
CONSTITUTION: A brake device includes a cylindrical member 1 where a Newtonian liquid is applied to the inside surface or the outside surface, and a member 3 disposed on the inside or outer periphery of the cylindrical member 1, wherein a part or the whole of the member 3 is brought into contact with the cylindrical member 1 through the liquid to generate the braking force depending on the rotating speed of the cylindrical member, and the space between the cylindrical member 1 and a part or the whole of the member 1 is varied to change the contact area, thereby varying the braking force.
