Title:
BRAKE CLUTCH FOR STEERING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3151554
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability without direct friction by a ball bearing, even if a speed difference exists between a multiplate type clutch and a mutiplate type brake, by arranging the multiplate type clutch and the multiplate type brake concentrically and providing a rolling bearing therebetween.
SOLUTION: At the same time when the movement in the axial direction of a clutch outer 31 intercepts a multi-plates type clutch 30, an output shaft 22 is restrained by the operation of a multi-plates type brake 40. In other words, when the clutch outer 31 is moved to the right, the outer race of a second release bearing 46 is pushed and moved to the right by the inner side circlip 38 engagingly locked to the clutch outer 31 and a brake plate 45 is moved to the right through a thrust washer 47 by the inner race. As this result, friction plates 43, 44 are held between the brake plate 45 and brake surface 41 and an output shaft 22 is braked. A second release bearing 46 is interposed between the rotated clutch outer 31 and the stopped brake plate 45 and the clutch outer 31 is not contacted with the brake plate 45 directly. Therefore, any friction is not generated theirbetween. Therefore, the durability is improved.
