The anti-allergic rhinitis contains an acidic xylo-oligosaccharide bearing uronic acid residue in the xylo-oligosaccharide molecule. The acidic xylo-oligosaccharide is a mixture of the oligosaccharide having different polymerization degree of xylose and the average polymerization degree is preferably 2.0 to 15.0. The oligo saccharide is obtained by treating lignocellulose material enzymatically and/or physicochemically to collect a complex body comprising the xylo-oligosaccharide component and the lignin component, then acid-hydrolyzing the complex body to obtain xylo-oligosaccharide mixture, and xylo-oligosaccharide bearing at least one uronic acid residues as side chains in one molecule is preferably collected from the resultant xylo-oligosaccharide mixture.
