To convert a spherical face image whose full azimuth is 720 degrees sr into a seamlessly continuous rectangular image unit and display it, and to detect only the discontinuous and local change while displaying the continuity of time and space by executing the flat packing of the image unit.
This full azimuth rectangular image monitoring system is configured, including: uniting images photographed by a remotely operable distributed camera into one seamless one spherical face image at 720 degrees sr equivalent to full directions and full visual fields which are not overlapped with each other; mapping it on a spherical system polyhedron; finally converting it into a continuous rectangular image unit with a fixed aspect ratio; fetching the whole unit in a rectangular viewer having almost the same aspect ratio; and completely displaying it at a monitor which can be captured at once at the angle of visual field of a human being. This monitoring system is also configured by using the unit as a time-sequential unit, and executing flat packing so that at least either one of a subject and background in the unit is almost seamlessly continued on each side of every unit by a two time rotational symmetrical operation, and by retrieving the temporal change of the subject or background.
