Abstract:
A weak-anchoring liquid crystal alignment agent according to the present invention contains the following component A and component B. Component A: A polymer represented by formula (1). Component B: a polymer having a site that, upon heating, reacts with an n-valent organic group A that is included in the component A. (In formula (1), A represents an n-valent organic group that has a molecular weight of not more than 300 and that has a group which, upon heating, reacts with component B; Q is a bivalent polymer unit that is compatible with a liquid crystal; R is a monovalent organic group that has a molecular weight of not more than 500 and that does not react with component B upon heating; and n is an integer of 1-2. When n is 2, the two Qs and Rs may be identical or different.)
