Abstract:
Provided are a yellow pigment (compound) that has high solubility in water, and is excellent in color saturation of recorded images, ozone resistance, and water resistance; and a yellow ink composition containing the yellow pigment for various recordings, especially for ink-jet recording. An ink composition that has: saturation and hue appropriate for ink-jet recording; various high fastness properties, especially high ozone resistance of records; and excellent preservation stability etc. of recorded images is obtained by using a water-soluble azo compound represented by formula (1) or the salt thereof, and an ink composition containing the same. Further, in formula (1), Q represents a halogen atom, x represents an integer of 2 to 4, a group A represents an amino group represented by any of formulae (2) to (5). In formula (2), y represents an integer of 1 to 5. In formula (4), m represents 1 or 2. In formula (5), n represents an integer of 0 to 2, and z represents a hydrogen atom, a carboxy group, or a sulfo group.
