Title:
VARIABLE PUPIL-SIZE PHOTOCHROMIC ARTIFICIAL IRIS CONTACT LENS, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/204565
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a variable pupil-size photochromic artificial iris contact lens, and a method for manufacturing same, wherein the method is for achieving a photochromic contact lens pupil size control function and involves a process for controlling the cross-linking density of the lens according to position. The method is performed by a manufacturing process system comprising a light source, a light absorption pattern, a heating plate, and a controller, wherein a control unit in the controller controls the temperature of the heating plate according to the thermosetting contact lens solution material used, and actively controls the wavelength/intensity of the light source according to the absorption wavelength of the light absorption pattern. In addition, the variable pupil-size photochromic artificial iris contact lens employs a variable pupil-size photochromic contact lens device, and comprises a variable pupil-size contact lens device manufactured by controlling the degree of crosslinking according to position, wherein the size of the contact lens pupil can be controlled discretely or continuously according to the adopted pattern, the region that changes in size due photochromism may be the entire lens, and the contact lens may be designed in consideration of the size of the pupil of the eye such that a portion of an optical section always remains transparent and only the remaining portion changes color. According to the present invention, the size of the pupil (the optical section) can be actively controlled according to the amount of external light, so as not to appear unnatural when wearing photochromic contact lenses, polymer cross-linking density is controlled through a curing temperature gradient of the lens according to position when curing a lens polymerization solution mixed with photochromic pigments, and iris-simulating patterns are adopted, so that the present invention has the remarkable effect of meeting the aesthetic needs of users.
