Abstract:
A variable capacitor comprising a first electrode (1) and a second electrode (2) which are positioned a predetermined distance apart from each other, and a plurality of series circuits (SC1 to SC6) each providing electrical connection between the first electrode (1) and the second electrode (2). In each of the series circuits (SC1 to SC6), a dielectric (3) and a semiconductor switch (SW1 to SW6) comprising at least one semiconductor chip facing the dielectric (3) are connected in series. In the semiconductor chip (4) of each of the semiconductor switches (SW1 to SW6), a current of each of the series circuits (SC1 to SC6) is controlled to be switched to an on-state or an off-state by a drive circuit allocated and connected to each of the semiconductor switches (SW1 to SW6).
