Abstract:
Valuable paper sheets stored in a valuable paper sheet pull-out prevention apparatus are reliably prevented from being pulled out therefrom.
A front feed unit (31) of a conveying device (2) located along a conveying passage (3) at the front side of a curved passage (19) is used to move a valuable paper sheet passing through the conveying passage (3) toward the curved passage (19) and cross over the curved passage (19). After a valuable paper sheet connected to a pull-out means such as a thread or a tape passes through the curved passage (19), a light-emitting element (62) of an optical detection device (7) irradiates an optical beam (6) in the width direction of the conveying passage (3) so that projection profiles (29, 59, 60) include a virtual tangent line (27) or an extended line from a virtual tangent line (27) which passes at least one point on a curved surface which forms top portions (17, 28, 57) of a mountain-like member (4).
