Abstract:
A biodegradable utensil (100) and methods for manufacturing the same are provided. The utensil (100) can comprise a utility portion (103) configured to manipulate a food item, a handle portion (101), and a transition portion (102) disposed between the handle portion (101) and the utility portion (103). The handle portion (101) can comprise a body having a first thickness, thickness-reducing features each having a thickness less than the first thickness, and a bead (106) extending along at least some of a length of the handle portion (101). The bead (106) can be continuous and uninterrupted, can extend between a first thickness-reducing feature and a second thickness-reducing feature, and can have a second thickness that is greater than the first thickness.
