Abstract:
The present invention can remove bills from transport paths that have opposite transport directions. A transport direction switching device (80) that has a first switching gate (81), a second switching gate (84), and a free gate (82). The first switching gate is at a junction between a first transport path, a second transport path, and a third transport path and switches between a first transport route that connects the first transport path and the second transport path and a second transport route that connects the first transport path and the third transport path. The second switching gate switches between the first transport route and a third transport route that connects the second transport path and the third transport path. The free gate is provided at a junction between the second transport route and the third transport route so as to be coaxial with the first switching gate and such that an elastic body (86) opens the second transport route side. When the transport directions of the first transport path and the second transport path are opposite, the transport direction switching device switches the first switching gate to the second transport route side and switches the second switching gate to the third transport route side.
