Abstract:
Disclosed in the embodiments of the present disclosure are a timer starting method and apparatus, which can be applied to the technical field of communications. The method, which is executed by means of an Internet-of-Things terminal device, comprises: determining a starting moment of a DRX inactivity timer according to transmission time information and a first duration of a PDSCH, a PUSCH or a PDCCH; and starting the DRX inactivity timer at the starting moment. By means of the method, a starting moment of a DRX inactivity timer and a starting moment for monitoring a PDCCH are overlapped as much as possible, so that it is ensured that an Internet-of-Things terminal device can reliably monitor the PDCCH, thereby improving the reliability of an Internet-of-Things communication system.
