Description:
THREE-STAGE PROFILE RIM USED FOR THE RIMS OF HEAVY EQUIPMENT

Technical Field

The invention is related to improvement and manufacturing of the ring profiles with the diameters of 24" and 54" used for the rims of tractor and industrial heavy equipment.

The invention particularly relates to the rims manufactured with more durable ring structure which is able to meet more carrying capacity of the tractors, heavy construction equipment due to their increasing weights and which have become stronger with the developing technology.

State of the Art

Today, rims of tractors and industrial heavy equipment are manufactured by making designs with W or DW profiled rings. W or DW ring profiles are assembled by welding with disk part and then, become rims.

W-type profile used in the present technique provides easiness of manufacturability since it is a single-phase ring. However, W-type ring profile requires manufacturing of disks having bigger fitting diameter by manufacturing the disk to be used in assembly with bigger raw material since the inner diameter of the ring is large. Therefore, disadvantages and dissatisfaction occur in terms of durability and tyre fitting.

As it is shown in the section of W profile, W-type ring convex radius bonded to the tyre rim manufactured in the size stated in national and international standards, to the ring flange and to the bead flat of the ring and consisting of a single stage forms a symmetrical half with Y axis of the section by connection of side wall flat of 15° fastened to the ending point and of concave radius fastened to the side wall tyre to the base tyre of the ring. (Figure - 2)

Angle value between one Y plane extending vertically to X axis of tyre axis in national and international standards and the first convex radius in the cross section is 25° and 45°. Also, according to the national and international standards, convex radiuses are between 10 mm and 20 mm whereas concave radiuses are between 5 mm and 15 mm.

DW profile rings are used as advanced form of W type ring profile in the present technique. DW profile rings have 2 inch smaller inner diameter than W profile. Thus, disk part to be made are manufactured with smaller fitting diameter by using smaller raw materials and then, assembled to the ring. DW profile eliminates dissatisfactions occurred in tyre fitting with W profile rings.

In DW profile ring section used in the present technique; as it is in W profile ring manufacturing, DW type ring convex radius fastened to the tyre rim manufactured in the size specified in national and international standards, to the ring flange and to the bead tyre of the ring and consisting of two stages forms a symmetrical half with Y axis of the section by connection of side wall tyre of minimum 15° fastened to the ending point and of the rim radial axis with DW parallel flat to X axis of concave radius fastened to the side wall flat, of convex radius with parallel flat fastened to the ending point, of the second side wall flat of minimum 15° fastened to the convex radius and of concave radius fastened to the side wall flat to the ring base flat. (Figure-3)

Shaping difficulty occurs due to the thickness effect of the material in the process since there is a great deal of flatness in radius passes between the stages in production by observing the standards during the ring W and DW profile processes in present manufacturing. Therefore, disadvantages such as non-quality products and high proportions of scraps occur.

For the rims manufactured with the rings designed as D and DW type in line with the abovementioned present techniques; tyre and rim which may meet more carrying capacity of tractors and heavy equipment which have become stronger with advanced technology and owing to the increasing weights of these tractors and heavy equipment become necessary. Due to such increase in capacity and strengthened inner structure of tyre, problems occur in fitting tyres with the rims of W and DW profile rings. Additionally, the rims with W and DW profile ring are unable to meet increased tyre capacity. Being the recent prior art, GB2431141A numbered patent file has been produced as three-staged because of the abovementioned problems. The angle between one Y plane with tyre axis extending vertically to X axis and the first convex radius in the cross section is produced as 33° in the structure of the rim belonging to GB2431141A numbered patent file. According to the national and international standards, this angle value is between 25° and 45°. Therefore, minimum diameter is unable to be acquired in the rim structure belonging to GB2431141A numbered patent file, sufficient durability cannot be acquired and thickness effect is unable to be prevented. Considering this, it has become compulsory to improve the structure of three-staged rim.

Object of the Invention

Main object of the invention in order to meet more carrying capacity of tractors and heavy equipment which have become stronger with advanced technology and owing to the increasing weights of these tractors and heavy equipment is to ensure easier tyre fitting and manufacture more durable rims with firm structure.

Another object of the invention is to ensure easy shaping by making ring profile consisting of three stages in order to prevent thickness effect of the material in the abovementioned techniques and in this way, reduce scrap.

Another object of the invention is to manufacture a product which may meet desired carrying capacity with ring profile (TW) consisting of three stages, ensure easy tyre fitting and thus, provide time and cost benefit.

Said invention has become a product admitted to ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization) in 2008 and which provides high performance against force and impacts in the application fields as well as it ensures more carrying capacity thanks to three-staged durable design of TW profile ring and easier tyre fitting than W and DW profile.

Object of the invention is to acquire a rim with firm and durable ring structure developed in order to eliminate the problems set forth under the previous heading and based on the previous inventions. Detailed Explanation of the Invention

The rim(10) displayed in Figure 1 consists of two parts. Disk(20) and ring (30) parts forming the rim are assembled under press and joined by welding.

Ring(30) forming the rim (10) based on the preference and according to the design of the manufacturer consists of ring flange (32), ring bead flat (34), curved area (36) and the ring base flat (38). Disk (20) is positioned on the ring base flat (38) under press. Disk (20) is positioned on the ring base flat (38) by welding process.

Rim (10) is fastened to the vehicle body or drum through the connecting holes (22) made on disk (20) displayed in Figure-1. Radial axis of ring (30) as one of the parts forming the rim (10) is designed vertically to X axis and symmetrically to Y axis. Ring (3) is specially designed and has the function of tyre casing in order that the tyre is positioned easily on the rim (10).

Considering the section of TW profile rim (10) for said invention; as it is seen in Figure-4, rim structure consists of three stages by containing first concave radius (B), second concave radius (E), third concave radius (H) and first convex radius (A), second convex radius (D), third convex radius (G). Rim (10) in the size specified in national and international standards is made by detailing on the curved area (36) connected to the ring (30), the ring flange (32) and the ring bead flat (34).

Sizes on the section of TW profile ring (30) for the invention are seen in detail in Figure-5. TW profile ring (30) manufactured differently from the present techniques is based on the changes in the curved area (36). Difference of TW profile rim (10) from the present manufacturing techniques is that concave radiuses (B, E, H) and convex radiuses (A,D,G) are formed in the curved area (36). When forming the curved area (36), convex radiuses (A,D,G) are produced in the length of outer diameter (R15) and concave radiuses (B, E, H) are produced in the length of inner diameter (R9).

Curved area (36) is formed with convex radiuses (A,D,G) and concave radiuses (B, E, H) by shaping the steel material. Convex radiuses (A,D,G) and concave radiuses (B, E, H) have been positioned oppositely. Length of outer diameter (R15) is 15 mm and the length of inner diameter (R9) is 9 mm.

Curved area (36) formed in both sides as symmetry to Y axis on the ring (30) in Figure-5 is connected tangentially to the ring bead flat (34) with inner diameter (R.15) as the first convex radius (A). First convex radius (B) is extended to the tangent of the first convex radius (A) with the inner diameter (R9). The first stage parallel platform (C) with radius length (h) of 5 mm in parallel to the horizontal X axis over the tangent of the first concave radius (B) is formed. Second convex radius (D) with the outer diameter (R15) of 15 mm is formed through the tangent of the first stage parallel platform (C). Second concave radius (E) with the inner diameter (R9) is formed through the tangent of the second convex radius (D). The second stage parallel platform (F) with the radius length (h) of 5 mm in parallel to the horizontal X axis over the tangent of the second concave radius (E) is formed. The third convex radius (G) with the outer diameter (R15) is formed through the tangent of the second stage parallel platform (F). The third concave radius (H) with the inner diameter (R9) is formed through the third convex radius (G). It is joined with the ring base flat (38) in parallel to the horizontal X axis through the tangent of the third concave radius (H).

In order to acquire the most effective rim (10) structure, as the angle between one Y plane extending vertically to X axis of the tyre and the first convex radius (A) in the cross section, axis angle in TW profile rim (10) structure is made as (o)28° and thus, minimum diameter values are acquired.

Rim(10) is placed between inner concave radiuses (B, E, H) and outer convex radiuses (A,D,G) in such a manner that radius length (h) is 5mm according to the simulation and analysis results of the first stage parallel platform (C) and the second stage parallel platform (F) of TW designed in parallel to radial X axis. Profile values with low tensions as a result of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) analysis have been found thanks to the first stage parallel platform (C) and the second stage parallel platform (F) manufactured with the radius length (h) of 5 mm in compliance with national and international standards.

Thus, platform sizes are reduced in inner and outer radius (B, E, H, A, D, G) passes among the stages. Diameter sizes reduced with increase in required durability based on the principle of increasing moment of inertia and pulley durability according to the central axis of the rim (10) pulley provide advantage in fitting and inflating the tyres together with firm and durable ring (30) structure of the rim(10).

Tyre is inflated during fitting by reaching the ring bead flat (34) through easily climbing from the curved area (36) designed over the ring base flat (38) and using tyre inflating pressure values.

Axis angle (a) displayed in Figure-5 is produced as between 25° and 45° according to national and international standards. Axis angle (a) in TW profile rim (10) structure is produced as (o)28° and a value quite close to the minimum value according to national and international standards is acquired. In this way, ring base flat (38) vertical to radial X axis and with the cross section symmetrical to Y axis is formed in the rim (10) structure improved. Curved area (36) on both sides of the rim (10) and which is more slant is formed. Ring bead flat (34) and the ring flange (32) connected to the curved area (36) provides a tyre casing for fitting the tyre. Supporting of the tyre bead against the ring bead flat (34) and the ring bead (32) prevents the air in the tyre from being lost and creates appropriate use conditions.
