Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a thermal printer capable of correcting printing image quality resulting from fluctuations in characteristics of an ink material. The thermal printer includes an ink characteristics measurement unit and a printing image quality correction unit. The ink characteristics measurement unit optically measures characteristics of an ink material of an ink sheet before thermal transfer. The printing image quality correction unit adjusts a calorific value of a thermal head on the basis of a reference relating to the characteristics of the ink material stored in advance and a measurement result of the characteristics of the ink material to correct printing image quality.
