The purpose of the present invention is to obtain a step detection device capable of accurately detecting steps without being affected by weather, environmental conditions, and the like. A step detection device (2) according to the present invention, which detects a step (20) when a tire (10) of a vehicle (100) rides up on the step, comprises: a plurality of strain detection elements (1) that are arranged on the inner circumferential surface of the tire at prescribed intervals in the circumferential direction of the tire; and a signal processing device (4) that processes the detection signals of the plurality of strain detection elements. The signal processing device detects the step on the basis of the detection signals of two or more strain detection elements adjacent to each other among the plurality of strain detection elements.
