Abstract:
A steel spring wire is configured from steel, which consists of 0.5 mass% to 0.8 mass% of carbon, 1.0 mass% to 2.5 mass% of silicon, 0.2 mass% to 1.0 mass% of manganese, and 0.5 mass% to 2.5 mass% of chromium, the balance being made of iron and unavoidable impurities, and which has a tempered martensite structure. The hardness of a surface layer region, which is the region within 10 µm of the outer circumferential surface, is harder than the region that is not the surface layer region by only greater than 0 HV to 50 HV.
