Abstract:
Provided is a steel continuous casting method capable of accurately and inexpensively identifying a final solidification position. In this steel continuous casting method for casting a cast slab pulled out from a casting mold while supporting the cast slab by means of a plurality of pairs of cast slab supporting rolls that oppose one another across the cast slab: in a partial sector, a degree of opening between the opposing cast slab supporting rollers is increased toward a downstream side in a casting direction; in a range from a position in which a solid phase rate of at least a central portion, in a thickness direction, of the cast slab is 0.2 to a position in which the solid phase rate is a flow-limit solid phase rate, a reduction is imparted to the cast slab by means of roll segments each including a plurality of pairs of the cast slab supporting rollers and having a reduction amount that is controlled by means of hydraulic cylinders; a pressure difference between the plurality of hydraulic cylinders is measured; the final solidification position of the cast slab is estimated on the basis of the pressure difference; and in the roll segment estimated to be the final solidification position, and the immediately preceding roll segment, the reduction amount imparted to the cast slab is controlled so as to satisfy a predetermined formula.
