Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a staple removal device that has a small number of parts and is compact with a simple construction, and that makes it possible for staples to be reliably removed from paper sheet bundles including saddle-stitch bound materials. [Solution] This staple removal device 1: drives an insertion claw 20, which has been inserted between a staple ST and a paper sheet bundle P, in a removal direction; pinches the staple ST and separates the same from the paper sheet bundle P using the insertion claw 20 and a staple press 30; after having separated the staple ST from the paper sheet bundle P, drives the insertion claw 20 in a release direction; and releases the hold on the staple ST by the insertion claw 20 and the staple press 30.
