Abstract:
The present invention provides: a square steel tube in which the ductility of the corners thereof is increased, and a method for manufacturing the same; and a building structure employing said square steel tube. A square steel tube 10 has formed therein multiple flat portions 11 and multiple corner portions 12 that are respectively arranged alternately in the peripheral direction of the tube. The flat portions have a yield strength of 325 MPa or more, a tensile strength of 440 MPa or more, and a yield ratio of 0.90 or less. The curvature radius of the exterior side of the corner portions 12 is more than 3.0 times but not more than 4.0 times the average wall thickness of the flat portions 11. The Charpy absorbed energy of the corner portions 12 and the flat portions 11 is at least 70 J at 0°C, and the average uniform elongation of the corner portions 12 is 5% or higher.
