Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a soil-improving agent that contains a lignin-based compound as an active ingredient and is capable of efficiently increasing the amounts of microorganisms and inorganic component in soil. The present invention provides: a soil-improving agent including a lignin sulfonic acid having 0.1-5.0 wt% of a phenolic hydroxyl group, 1.0-15.0 wt% of a methoxyl group, and at least 2.0% of sulfur atom content derived from a sulfonate group; an improved soil composition including the soil-improving agent and soil; a method for producing improved soil, the method involving adding the soil-improving agent to soil; and a method for producing plants by using the improved soil composition.
