Abstract:
According to the present invention, reading omissions and erroneous reading of a passive-type RF tag are suppressed in an RF tag reading device having an opening in an upper portion thereof. An accommodating portion 103 has an opening 110 in an upper portion thereof, and internally accommodates an article 300 having an RF tag 301 attached thereto. A side plate 125 includes a radio wave absorption layer for absorbing radio waves, and has a side antenna 161 installed on an inner surface thereof. Three other side plates 126, 127 and 128 include the radio wave absorption layer, but do not have the side antenna 161 installed thereon. Upper edges of the other three side plates 126, 127 and 128 are higher than an upper edge of the side antenna 161. Even if radio waves transmitted from the side antenna 161 leak to the outside of the accommodating portion 103 from the opening 110, the strength of the radio waves is small. Even if an external RF tag operates in response to radio waves that have leaked to the outside of the accommodating portion 103, a determining unit 212 can determine that the RF tag is external when a response radio wave transmitted from the RF tag is received by the side antenna 161.
