Abstract:
The present invention improves the corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance of a refractory product for use in continuous casting and a refractory product member. The refractory product according to the present invention contains a free carbon component in an amount of 10% by mass to 30% by mass inclusive, in which the remaining main mineral phase comprises at least one component selected from corundum, spinel and periclase. In the refractory product, the content of the periclase is less than 40% by mass and the total content of a silica component and a silicon carbide component is less than 15% by mass. When the proportion of a part excluding a structure composed of the free carbon component from a structure of the refractory product is defined as 100% by volume, refractory product particles each having a particle diameter of more than 0.3 mm account for 20% by volume or more and refractory product particles each having a particle diameter of 0.045 mm or less account for 3% by volume to 30% by volume inclusive. With respect to a coarse particle having at least the largest particle size among the refractory product particles in the refractory product, an approximately continuous void layer having a shape similar to the shape of the coarse particle is present around the coarse particle. The refractory product has an apparent porosity of 16% or less and a maximum thermal expansion ratio at a temperature up to 1500°C is 0.6% or less.
