Abstract:
In a container (50), a sample undergoes heavy solution-based gravity separation. An overflow pipe (80) is provided on top of the container and lets a supernatant overflow from the top of the container (50), the supernatant containing a substance having been separated due to the gravity separation in the container (50). A controller controls the flow of the heavy solution into and out from the container (50). The controller lets a portion of the supernatant resulting from the gravity separation overflow from the container (50) via the overflow pipe (80), and then lets the remaining supernatant in the overflow pipe (80) flow back in the container (50) and overflow again via the overflow pipe (80).
