Title:
A PROPULSION SYSTEM BASED ON LORENTZ FORCE, OPERATING IN SUPERCONDUCTING STATE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2021/094810
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A propulsion system is functional based on Lorentz force which by analogy with railguns comprises of two pieces of narrow superconducting materials called rails and one superconducting material called armature sandwiched between the rails but electrically isolated and in contrast to railguns. Armature is a cuboid superconducting material with dimensions of several meters. Armature and rails are fixed firmly to the structure of the spaceship. The armature and the rails each have its own electric power supply. By flowing the current through the rails, a magnetic field is created around the rails which interacts with the current flows through the armature and creates Lorentz force on the armature that pushes armature in the forward direction, hence spaceship which is fixed firmly to the armature is accelerated to forward direction, consequently, creates propulsion force. The main alternate design is substituting the rails with two superconducting stretched coils.
