Abstract:
An aspect of the present invention provides a printer capable of communicating with external equipment according to a prescribed communication protocol, the printer being provided with: a data reception unit that receives data including a character string to be printed from the external equipment; an acquisition unit that acquires extraction setting information representing information on a method for extracting the character string included in the data received by the data reception unit; an extraction unit that extracts the character string from the received data on the basis of the extraction setting information acquired by the acquisition unit when the data is received from the external equipment; and a printing unit that prints the character string extracted by the extraction unit on a printing medium.
