Abstract:
Provided is a power transmission system that enables a reduction in costs related to unnecessary communication devices and in unnecessary power consumption, the power transmission system thus affording excellent power savings. The power transmission system comprises: a microwave contactless power feed device that feeds power to a secondary battery by propagating microwaves in a contactless state. The microwave contactless power feed device includes: a power transmitter that transmits microwaves; and a power receiver that receives the microwaves transmitted from the power transmitter. The power receiver includes: a detection unit that detects a power storage state of the secondary battery; and a reporting unit that uses wireless communication to report, to the power transmitter, the detection results of the detection unit. The detection unit and the reporting unit are provided midway along a transmission path to the secondary battery. The power transmitter includes a determination unit that determines whether power can be transmitted on the basis of the detection result of the detection unit as reported by the reporting unit.
