The present invention addresses the problem of providing a technology that enables an increase in power transmission efficiency in a magnetic field resonance power transmission system. A power transmission device (20), which is paired with a power reception device to form a magnetic field resonance power transmission system, is equipped with: a power source unit (22) that generates AC power; and a power transmission resonance circuit unit (24) that wirelessly transmits the AC power from the power source unit (22) to the power reception device by means of a power transmission resonance frequency determined from the power transmission inductance and the power transmission capacity. The power source unit (22) is equipped with a DDS circuit unit (40) that adjusts the frequency of the AC power so as to match the power transmission resonance frequency. The power transmission resonance circuit unit (24) is equipped with power transmission variable capacity capacitors (28va, 28vb), which have a variable capacity changed by an applied voltage, and which adjust the power transmission resonance frequency by means of the variable capacity contained in the power transmission capacity so as to match the frequency of the AC power.
