Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a positive electrode active material and a lithium secondary battery including same. More specifically, the present invention pertains to a positive electrode active material containing a lithium-excess lithium manganese-based oxide, and a lithium secondary battery including same, wherein the excess amounts of lithium and manganese present in the lithium manganese-based oxide prevent the electrochemical characteristics, including the rate characteristics, of the lithium secondary battery from degrading, and in particular, the elution of transition metals from the lithium manganese-based oxide is suppressed or alleviated, and thus a reduction in the lifespan of the lithium secondary battery can be prevented.
